Who Are We?

Handi-Care Intl.

Handi-Care Intl. is a registered Canadian charity that is run exclusively by volunteers, enabling us to keep admin charges below 3%.

We are dedicated to empowering children with disabilities by building partnerships, fundraising for projects and implementing programs in low resource settings primarily in India.

We liaison with major Canadian Universities to facilitate clinical placements and promote volunteerism.

Sulo Krishnamurthy received the Indian North American Lifetime Achievement Award by Canada Tamil Sangam on January 21st, 2023.

We are happy to announce that Zero Project Award for Pediatric Assistive Technology (AT) Provision Program in rural South India was received by Sulo Krishnamurthy and Marie Brien in Vienna on 23rd Feb 2023 for our performance in delivering Assistive Technology devices.

Mutharasu

Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and an Intellectual Disability, He joined the EI program at 2 years old. Through years of dedicated therapy and special education, Mutharasu has reached several milestones and is now ready for school! His parents and 2 siblings are so proud of him!

Diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability, Thanga was partially dependent in daily rasks, was not independently mobile, and had a short attention span. After joining the EI program at 5 years old, he is now able to walk and perform tasks independently, and is now enrolled in a mainstream school.

Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and an Intellectual Disability, Sujith K was partially dependent in ADLs, was not independently mobile, and had a short attention span. After joining the EI program at 5 years old, he is now independent in day-to-day activities, and pays good attention in school.

Diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability, Sowbiya was completely dependent in day-to-day activities, and did not have any independent mobility. After joining the EI program at 2 years old, she is now able to walk and perform tasks independently, and is now enrolled in a mainstream school.

Santhiyalakshmi

Living with low vision, Santhiyalakshmi was partially dependent in ADLs, had a reduced visual field, and difficulty with visual tasks. After joining the EI program, she was able to get surgery for one eye and wears correcting lenses. She is now completely independent in ADLs and goes to school.

Yes. Currently, clinical placements are available for students who are in their Master’s Program, in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and in speech language and pathology from all Universities across Canada. More information about placements can be found under Volunteering & Placements menu.
Yes. Volunteer placements are available for any/all high school and university students across Canada. Through these placements, volunteers will build invaluable leadership skills, gain cultural insights, cultivate lifelong friendships, and have fun.
